Long before the start of the Volvo Ocean Race, Jeanneau collaborated closely with Chinese race team, Dongfeng when the team first trained aboard two of our Sun Fast 3200s in preparation for the real thing.
Team Director Bruno Dubois highlighted the initial focus of the campaign. “Our first priority was the recruitment and training of the Chinese sailors. In the beginning, this was very clearly the biggest challenge we had – to condense
many years of experience of the average Volvo Ocean Race crew into just 10 months”. For this, they needed an offshore training fleet that could put the crew through their pace. The Sun Fast 3200 fit the bill perfectly.
Today, as the Volvo Ocean Racers bomb Northeast from Itajai, Brazil to Newport, RI on leg 6 of this race around the world, our collaboration with Team Dongfeng continues and we look forward to visiting with them during this exciting stopover from May 5-17.
