New for 2019 comes the Sun Odyssey 319. And while she might not be the biggest or the grandest of the range, in many ways the SO 319 represents the very best of what Jeanneau is all about; elegance and simplicity.
It’s easy to get excited about a big boat, I mean big boats offer more room and grander accommodations. But they also cost more to buy than a small boat and more to maintain. And let’s face it, not everyone can afford a big boat or necessarily needs a big boat.
“Generous accommodation and lofty headroom are squeezed into a package that still sails superbly.” Graham Snook
Enter the Sun Odyssey 319, not huge but a lot of fun to sail and perfect for a weekend getaway. At 32’1″ the Sun Odyssey 319 offers great sailing performance with plenty of room below to keep the crew happy.
Offered with 2 good-size cabins, fully functional galley, marine head with shower, and plenty of interior seating, the SO 319 can easily accommodate a crew of 4-6 for a memorable weekend away.
So, would I trade my time aboard say the Jeanneau 64 for time aboard the Sun Odyssey 319? Perhaps! While the Jeanneau 64 would certainly be my choice for crossing an ocean or winding my way through the British Virgin Islands for a week, the 319 might be just the perfect boat to sail up and down the Severn River outside my home in Annapolis or over to St, Michael’s for the weekend. Sometimes, the best of things really do come in small packages.
